I'm typing this and thinking to myself, things are ok so far.

Two years ago, having been on holiday, I returned to work to face redundancy the following month.

I am hoping I can reach my 2 year milestone with my current employer later this year.  It's not easy because you don't know when things will raise their ugly head.

It happened also in 2006 but that year it was only a few weeks before I was due to go on holiday.  Who knows, maybe I should postpone any future holidays?!  Roll Eyes

Anyway here's hoping you are all still gainfully employed this summer, and if job hunting, I have my fingers well and truly crossed.

Congratulations Gee!

Yes, you're absolutely right - none of us really know what is around the corner.  Your post just proves that you can dust yourself off and move on positively, it is just a shame that you have had to.

Reading your message, I think perhaps it is better that you had your holidays booked before receiving the news - they might not have been half as fun otherwise (or maybe you wouldn't have gone at all?)!   Wink

Your message was lovely - and I know I don't post in here very often, but I wanted to wish you everything that you wished us.  Have a fantastic summer, and congratulations on your two years!  (Here's to the next two!)

Well Dippa,

I'm getting too old for all this moving around malarkey, so it will be good if I can stay where I am for a wee bit longer, if not for good.

Thanks again.

Gee

When is your current employment anniversary date? Mine is August 18 2 years ago on a permanent basis and 12 December from the year before that!.

Wishing you good vibes and incontinent bosses (ie too busy going to the loo - just in case!)

Just shows we are winners!  Now all I have to do is get best friend sorted out as she is between gigs having been made redundant for the third time in 10 years!  You would have thought that the last person to be got rid of would be their health and safety manager, wouldn't you?

Anywho, hope you are enjoying the good weather (for once!).  I certainly am (although I have no working fridge or freezer which is not so nice!)

It's tough Jess and nowadays you can't always pick and choose where you want to work.  Heck you can't even pick and choose who you want an interview with as it's all down to the shortlisting panel and out of our control.

Hope your friend gets sorted.  Through all of my redundancies, it was usually the admin staff that were let go or very senior managers/sales personnel who were offered such a huge package they couldn't say no.

As for the weather it's very mixed here, but has been warm/muggy for months now.  Long may it continue!  Cheesy

Hi Gee and congratulations on the upcoming milestone / anniversary.  Knowing the c£*p you've been through that's one helluva great achievement and I am really pleased for you!   Grin
