Hello everyone, only my second day and im back here again, like i said it is lonely here!

But i have a question...I dont understand direct email selling messages! In my last job i was always gettin loads of messages trying to sell me stuff and in my opinion they dont work, but the marketing people here in my new office send them out all  the time and dont seem to think its anoyying?!?!?!?!

Can email sales messages EVER be good? what kind of people actually respond to them? Does it anoy you to death or is there anyone out there that reads them??

just a thought

Yes they bug me.  I don't get these to my work email address but do receive some to my personal email address.  I now add any of these email addresses to my junk mail or "block sender" list so I don't receive any more.

I absolutely DESPISE them!  They are the most irritating things in the world!  They even bug me more than getting a telemarketing phone call during dinner time at home.  I guess your coworkers have their jobs to do, but believe me, it is driving lots of people up the wall (nuts, whatever).

I'd maybe remind them that spam email is illegal - all marketing messages should have an unsubscribe address & this should be honoured.

I'd try & convince them to build a list of authorised emails via a website sign up link, which would allow people to opt in or out of the mail list.  They're bound to get a better response from this type of mailing list - why don't you challenge them to monitor response?

I have never liked SPAM and to think it's coming from the company is even more disturbing!! What line of work is your company into?  Shocked)

Its a hotel booking agancy, and they're sending messgaes to people who have used them before, so i dont think its tecnically spam as such?

I agree with you guys though and i really cant see how it can be having a positive effect coz everyone i know cant stand stuff like that.

(PS Went to nottinghill carnival for the first time this weekend, was absoulutly super!!!!!!!! Am so stiff from trapesing round everywhere that i actually cant walk now though, had to be helped off the bus this morning, how embarising!)

I get regular emails from an online hotel booking agency that I use and recommend a lot.  I didn't tick the box saying I didn't want emails, because like everyone else, I'm keen to see bargains.  But I quite often just delete the emails because if they come at a time when I know I can't use the offer, or whatever, I don't bother reading them.

I don't consider these spam, nor to be a waste of my time.  And it only takes seconds to delete them.

If they are not unsolicited, then I suppose it is fine.  But deleting them can end up taking a long time if they are indeed spam.  I have one email address that I had to stop using because I was getting pages of messages from one company.  They would just send, like, 100 copies of the same message.  Whenever I see something like that, I think to myself, surely they don't actually believe I am going to read this message!  I don't like being bullied into anything.  RR
