Was given a task to call 2 persons to expedite a delivery.
I was working on deadlines which he was aware of.

Manager calls after an hour asks me to put him on hold and call the people.
Angry I was annoyed, very annoyed.

My take - did he not trust me to get it done on time?
His take (his explanation) Getting it done.

This after 6 years of working together!
Annoyed enough to update my CV.

Dont know if I just need a break from work scene.

regards,

End result, it got done.  "Don't sweat the small stuff, it's all small stuff".  He just wanted it done at that time, and although there were other pressing deadlines, you got it done by stopping everything and doing it as your boss instructed.  IT wont matter in a day, a week, a month, a year or 5 years from now.  Sounds like a stressful day and you were both under pressure.  Take it as that and forget about it.

I think sometimes we get so focussed on what we are currently working on - especially if deadlines are involved that being asked to do something else (even by the boss) can throw us sideways a little and we may react - even only to ourselves - in the way spinjin did. Quite understandable.

It may have been that the boss had this on his mind and will keep it in his mind until he knows it has been done, so - getting inside his brain here for a moment  Grin - he may have been thinking something along the lines of "OK, I will bring this deadline forward to NOW and then I know it is done and can wipe it from keep popping up in my mind".

Am sure it was not a case of not trusting you to do the job but just wanting to get it done above other deadlines.
