If you had a fit desk or the treadmill where you can type and walk, or some type of exercise equipment that allows you to exercise WHILE working (AT work), would you use it? Do you think they work? http://www.treaddesk.com/ http://www.trekdesk.com/

Susan, you have got to be having a laugh! Given the sort of work that inevitably end up doing on a daily basis, I have no need to 'exercise' while I work (lugging archive boxes, moving huge piles of files around, hole punching, photocopying, furniture reorganisation etc etc) and neither do I need to pay for a gym membership either! Cannot see it would really work as (IMHO) it could distract from the work at hand (especially the more tender-minded, but still very intelligent male fee earners that I work for!)! Just my take on it, although ... having said that, there are a few partners who I would pay to see fall off their treadmill if they got bad news or grief from a client! Jess

I wish I could say yes, I'd use it, but the reality is no.... Since I'm not really in an admin job, my take may be a bit different, but I cannot see the folks who do my job being able to do it while walking on a treadmill or such. I have had some positions where I would definitely have jumped at the opportunity to use something like MsMarieh posted, as that seems like it could be done while actually typing and doing work. In my current position, however, we are reviewing cases, with any case having anywhere from 1 to 17 volumes or folders of papers, that all have to be reviewed, flagged, information transferred to the computer, etc etc.... and I just do not see how we could focus and read and transfer focus to the computer screen and type without losing spots, without "bouncing" off course, or simply dropping the case files.
I'm interested in hearing others views though.

I would love to have something like that. The only problem is I'm not sure I could concentrate on both at the same time. I'm very uncoordinated.

I would if we could I think it would be a great way to take conference calls and stay awake during some of them. I was sitting on an excerise ball instead of my chair at my desk, but it was picking up too much printer carbon so it went back home. I was ( wait for it )
on the ball!

The concept of using them at work is more.. there is one or more work stations set up and you can schedule an hour or more. You can plug in a laptop to the network or make calls or have conference call. You actually are supposed to walk every slow but even at a slow pace you burning more calories. I would love one here and set an hour and do all my email or when we have our weekly conference call. I would use it, but I doubt this company would ever get one.

Same here. I'm in the "can't walk and chew gum at the same time" category. I can easily envison myself getting injured trying to do this. That said, I have been forcing myself to go for a walk at lunch, and have put reminders that pop up on my screen to get up and move around every two hours to keep the circulation going.
