I can't help it, I just have to toot my horn. I finally was able to get my boss to realize that I do have some useful skills. It's amazing how scanning a simple blank contract into powerpoint can knock a guy off his feet Now, thanks to me, we'll be scanning all of our contracts and forms. Take note ladies, initiative does work!

I know how you feel, my boss has been thrilled for three days since I called our IT guys to fix her printer. It needed a small repair kit from the manufacturer.
Everytime she prints a document, she giggles and tells me how wonderful I am.

Isn't it just great when we wow our bosses and they realise that they really need us around? And when they thank us?? My old boss was a lot like this... thanking me and being pleasantly surprised when I did something simple. Gotta get a chance to do that for new bossie... he still goes to someone else for help with Powerpoint when I know more than that person and could do it quicker (and better, but I won't say that because that other person is my friend too).
Power to the Admins.
Way to go Ellen!

(smiles to herself, remembering the time when a former bossie was moaning about having to send out 50 letters.)
Did says, "Well, I'll just do a mail merge."
Bossie says, "A Mail Merge?...What's that?"
Did replies, (keeping it simple) "When you tell the computer to make up a letter for each name and address."
Bossie exclaims: "Wow! You can DO THAT?!? You don't have to retype each letter!?!? You're a GENIUS!!!"..........

That's great because when you really think about it, our jobs are "invisible". What I mean by that, is we are behind the scenes making everything run smoothly and people only notice our job when we are NOT doing it. And then they aren't happy.
So it is really nice when you are not only noticed for doing our job but getting a compliment for it too.
Congratulations!!

So true, Radar!
Last time I took half a day off (not even a whole day), I came back to panicky staff members:
"You can't ever leave us again. We're lost without you."
They really appreciate us when we're not there.

Congratulations!
It's great to know that sometimes even bossies realize, what we are doing.
I don't see my bossie often in the office, so it's hard for me to get some feedback, but a few weeks ago, there was a meeting in our office, and bossie told another person, how fast and well I had organized an important matter.
Wow, I was sitting at my desk with glowing red face
because bossie is otherwise very thrifty with compliments.
Best wishes from sunny Germany
