Avery also makes one-half sheets; comes 12 labels to a sheet.  I've used these for years and they work pretty well.  Of course your printer has to support them.  I no longer have access to a typewriter so unless I just can't wait to prepare a file label, I usually do several at a time.  And I've been known to run them through several times myself.
