So I have a sales guy in NY right now. Really great guy, but definitely a sales guy. Scattered brained, and very very very high maintence. His wife also works here.
So they both go to NY for a couple of meetings. My guy is in there to meet with a major printer manufacturer. This guy's wife has been talking with this company for a long time (9 months), and asked him to meet with them to explain a project he recently worked on that she want to do.
I called the car company that is taking him there, and made sure they had directions. They assured me that they did, and refused when I offered to fax them a map and directions (dumb huh?). So to cover my butt, I got the directions and a map and faxed them to my guy so he had a copy just in case. Please keep in mind, I've never been out of TX, and have no idea where anything is in NY. I basically took what the computer and corp. website had for him.
I come back from lunch and get a call from my sales guy. He's lost, the driver's lost, and they can't reach the car company. No prob. I pull up the site and give them the address and corp phone number. Of course during this the sales guy's cell cuts out, and I can't hear him when he calls back. So he calls me back on the driver's cell (obviously pissed off) and I give him the address and number again.
My gripe? The dude knows I don't know NY, and have never been to this company. HIS WIFE has been there at least 20 times, and knows the place like the back of her hand. WHY, WHY didn't he just ask her sometime during yesterday or today, and why didn't he have the number of the place he was going to? I tell you what, this will be the first time I don't say sorry for something I didn't do. If he even tries to say anything about it, I will bring up the fact that his wife should know how to get there. Oh well, at least he will be happy to know that I chewed (and I never chew) the company out who sent the car. Anyway, thanks for letting me vent.

Elleny,
Believe it or not that used to happen to me alot at my former job. I worked for a kitchen and bath company as receptionist and let me tell you all the truck drivers that used to call in with parts, etc. for us ALWAYS called in for directions and of course, I always got to talk to them. Fortunately, we had a cheat sheet set up right at the front desk East or West from I-90 Thruway and 390 North or South here in NY. SO, usually that was enough, unless it was an unusual request.
Can you belive one of the BIG store chains here in the area has a fleet of trucks and they are NOT allowed to have CB's in the truck, so all along thru the thruway when we drive you hear Hey such and such a truck and they were obviously looking for directions and the truck driver would NEVER answer cause they don't have CB's. And some of them got downright upset that they didn't answer sometimes.
I am also amazed at the truck drivers that get off the major thruway here in our city and don't know where the heck they are going when they get here, don't they have a map and directions....can't they follow those? They ALWAYS ask, and I give em credit cause at least they know when to ask, unlike some that would rather get lost and stay lost than ask for directions .
Okay I'm done venting now too. Relax Elleny, its Friday, and get ready to party soon, it's almost over just over an hour left for me, yeah!

Elleny, admit it... you're a Goddess... and office Goddess. can you blame a guy for thinking you'll know it all?
But I understand the frustration!!! Glad it's Friday and you get some time away from the office needs for a bit.
