Currently, she is Personal Assistant to the editor of Woman's Own Magazine, a post she has held since 1998. I mainly knew Carolyn when I was Deputy Editor of Woman's Own from 1998 - 2002 - we started at the magazine virtually the same week, although we worked together previously at EVA Magazine - and have constantly been impressed by her dedication, hard work and her ability to make sense out of chaos in a busy, ever-changing media environment.

Carolyn also served as my PA (along with the editor), and even though I am now freelance, I am a regular contributor to the magazine and she always makes time to sort out my invoices and send me copies of the magazine. She is unflaggingly cheerful, professional and pleasant, leaving everyone who comes to the magazine with an excellent first impression of both the office and the company.

Carolyn manages to run the office with impeccable skill and calm, keeping track of her editor's busy schedule whilst at the same time helping virtually everyone else in the office. She is often roped into chores others would find difficult - she was photographed weekly as "Lady Muck" with a headscarf wrapped round her head wearing Marigolds for over a year and had to tell the world about her domestic habits - but she always kept a cheerful face.

She is the behind-the-scenes queen of the magazine's annual charity event, Children of Courage, but more importantly, she fulfils her daily tasks with a smile. She is now working with a new editor, her third since she started at the magazine, and manages to keep a tight ship despite the myriad changes she has encountered throughout her career, being able to deal skilfully with a variety of personalities and talents on a daily basis. Quite simply, she takes over the mundane organisation, so nobody else has to!
