7 January: The UK's biggest group of independent hotels is set to turn Blue Monday into a red letter day in an attempt to cheer up Britain.
With the January blues set to officially peak on Monday January 21, the team at the Best Western call centre is wasting no time and aims to cheer up callers at random from this week.
In addition to the Winter sale offering up to 50% off breaks throughout the group’s 280 hotels, Best Western has pledged to give away 2,500 gifts - ranging from hair styling products, toiletries, bottles of wine, shopping vouchers, bouquets of flowers and free weekends away at Best Western GB hotels – to put the smile back on the face of Brits.
The ‘cheer-ups’ are not limited to guests booking a weekend away either, customers ringing up for any reason are in with a chance of winning.
There are additional opportunities for the most regular Best Western hotel guests to get an extra bit of cheer – with a host of random acts of kindness planned by hotel staff for hotel regulars during the month.
These include gift vouchers given out at random to regular guests for a huge variety of high street stores including Toys R Us and Tesco. In addition, random acts of kindness including cleaning guests’ homes while they are away will be carried out and in the Spring there are plans for welcome home hampers to be delivered.
Keith Pope, Managing Director of Best Western GB, said: “We wanted to say a big thank you to our loyal guests and also cheer up the rest of the UK at the same time.
“Blue Monday is a notoriously depressing day – Christmas is over, we’re all desperately waiting for the pay packet to land in our account after all that festive spending – so we wanted to do our bit to help spread a little extra good-will.
“And we’re not waiting till January 21 to get cracking – we’ll be cheering people up all month.”
