Writing instruments manufacturer Pentel raised over £46,500 for The Prostate Cancer Charity in 2011 through sales of two of its pens and continues to raise money in 2012 for the charity.
The Prostate Cancer Charity, which was founded in 1996, fights prostate cancer on every front – from research into the disease, to support for those affected and their families, to campaigning for greater awareness and providing information on symptoms, treatment and advice.
The Pentel products are a blue barrelled ballpoint pen called LineStyle, which carries a donation of £0.20 per pen for every pen sold and an ultra cool version of the company's EnerGel Xm Retractable liquid gel roller, with an ice-white barrel and contrasting aqua blue trim, for which a donation of £0.25 per pen is made to the charity for every pen sold.
The pens are available from many stationery retailers, plus Clinton Cards and Birthdays.
One of the main events in The Prostate Cancer Charity's fundraising calendar is 'Movember', when men grow a 'mo', sponsored by their family, friends and colleagues to raise money for the charity. One of Pentel's own sales representatives joined in the fun and grew his own 'Tom Selleck' to raise over £100 by his own hirsute endeavours.
Wendy Vickery, Pentel Marketing Manager, said, ''We are thrilled to have raised so much money for The Prostate Cancer Charity in 2011 and thank everyone who's bought a pen for helping us to make a difference to the lives of sufferers and their families. Prostate cancer is the number one cancer to affect men and we're pleased to show our support for the excellent work of The Prostate Cancer Charity through sales of our special products.''
Alison Walker, Corporate Partnerships Manager for The Prostate Cancer Charity said, ''We are delighted that Pentel has raised this sum for The Prostate Cancer Charity and look forward to a successful relationship with them again in 2012.''
