Keyboard shortcuts in the 2007 Office system

Many of the programs in the 2007 Microsoft Office system have a brand-new look. Most menus and toolbars have gone away, and along with the new look come new and easier ways to use the keyboard.

Length: 20-30 minutes
Applies to: Microsoft Office Access 2007, Excel 2007, Outlook 2007, PowerPoint 2007, Word 2007

Goals: After completing this course you will be able to:
  • Accomplish tasks by using sequential shortcut keys, known as Key Tips, shown on the Ribbon.
  • Navigate around the Ribbon using the TAB key and arrow keys.
  • Accomplish tasks by using key combinations - keys you press at the same time - exactly as you've done in previous versions of Office.
People use keyboard shortcuts for a lot of reasons. Some like to use them to save valuable time or just because they find it easier. Others don't use a mouse for physical reasons, so executing commands through the keyboard is essential. Whatever your reasons, and whether you're a keyboarding aficionado or a beginner, this course will help you learn how to work with the 2007 Office system using just your keyboard.

If you're an experienced keyboard user, you'll be pleased to know that there are several improvements to keyboarding in the 2007 Office release.
