Mickey Finn
A Mickey Finn is a drink that has been drugged in some way, usually in order to render a person helpless so that a crime can be committed. Mickey Finn was an actual man and the owner of both the Palm Garden Restaurant and the Lone Star Saloon located on Whiskey Row, Chicago. Both establishments were havens for pickpockets and petty thieves, chiefly trained by Finn himself. One of Finn's common methods to steal from people was to lace their drinks with chloral hydrate (“knock-out drops”), pilfer from them and then dump them down the road. Predictably, the two establishments were closed down in 1903. However, Finn managed to escape jail and found work as a barman where he sold his recipe to other devious crooks.
