Rigmarole
The word Rigmarole is used to describe something incoherent, rambling and difficult to see a way through. The word is now over 700 years old, dating back to 1291 when Scottish noblemen signed a deed of loyalty to King Edward I of England. Each nobleman fixed their seal to it. When all were joined together and presented to the King it was over 40ft long. The deeds were called the Ragman Roll, and was a confusing and complicated set of documents.
