People indulging in Horseplay are interacting in a boisterous but friendly manner. The expression’s origin lies with English Morris dancers and the players riding wooden hobbyhorses accompanying them at country fairs. These “horses” would engage in wild antics to entertain the crowds, very much like a clown does in a circus, and so the “horseplay” became a popular part of the Morris dancers' act.
