If you tell someone that they are Dressed To Kill you are suggesting they are smart, fashionable and set to make a romantic conquest. The phrase’s origin appears to have come from the Cambridge Tribune, an American newspaper. On 10 November 1881 an army recruit, magnificent in his new uniform, was asked how he felt about his appearance. Unimpressed by either his appearance or the question, the soldier replied, “I am dressed to kill”.
