General Discussion / Admins 4 Admins / Re: Transcribing a conference call

We hold weekly conference calls, across 2 or 3 countries. I do not transcribe the call verbatim, but record any decisions that have been made. Once I have wriitten the minutes/actions, I circulate round the team. It is probably easier for me as I recognise the voices of the people who are speaking - however, if it is the same people you will also soon get to recognise them. But I agree that the best thing to do is check with you boss.
Good luck, it will get easier - I promise!

If this is a more interesting department you could say that you welcome being in a new and exiting environment where you could make more of an impact and you relish the chance to work with new people?
Very best of luck

As the intranet editor for a couple of sites, I agree that it is incredibly frustrating when people are unaware of what is on them. However, with time peole do become used to searching through the site rather than being spoonfed the information.
The sites have to be kept permanently up-to-date, which in an ever changing environment can be very challenging indeed.
If you can provide a hook to get people onto the site, that can be a very good way of changing the culture, particularly if your organisation is not used to using the Intranet. One way in which I did this was to provide monthly global competitions, with a bottle of Champagne for the winner. Does require a lot of work, but it does the job!
Good luck!
