What I find interesting is that he is basically comparing it to the lawsuits against Big Tobacco.

The problem with this is that the reason Big Tobacco lost was not because they had increased the nicotine, but because they lied about it.

personally, I would get my requests in e-mail format, ccing the manager you are doing this on the behalf of.  That way they know you are on top of things.  Continue asking with that professional smile, and any emails you get from the IT person forward on to the new manager (FYI of course).  This way you are keeping him in the loop, he knows you are working on it, and he will also know that this IT guy is stonewalling.  You also are not "tattling" on the IT guy because you aren't going to your manager saying "so-and-so won't work with me *pout*".

Set specific deadlines with the IT guy for when you want the equipment by.  Perhaps if he isn't doing his job you should order the equipment on the corporate card and expense it?  Just an idea if it goes too far.

A friend of mine through mental telepathy tells them "Psychic Friends gets $3.99 a minute, I do not" (with a smile on her face).

That gives me a giggle when I was supposed to know/do things but wasn't told.

Well I've read somewhere that the top two ways most Americans expect to get wealthy is to...

1.  Sue someone who is wealthy
2.  Hit the lottery

That is just too sad.  A friend of mine calls the lottery a "stupidity tax"

OK everyone, put your thinking caps on for me please.....

My company is having a year end dinner.  I need a joke for it (they put us first-timers on the spot and we have to tell a joke to the whole company) that is nice, but can have a little risque spice to it.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.  I will be going back through this forum to find something also.

Thanks.

Ellen

Actually spitfire, the driving age in the US varies from state to state.  In NJ, for example, you get a learner's permit at 16.5 yrs old and a graduating licence to drive at 17 with all driving privileges granted by age 18 (if there are not problems in that year).

perhaps he will allow you to access his AmEx account online?  There is a way to see the current charges prior to the statement arriving.  You will need his permission as well as his user id and password to access it.

First question, do you have to sign off on them?  Are you responsible for checking figures or do you just have to enter them and he is responsible for the outcome when he signs and the supervisor responsible when approved?

Figure it was an honest mistake, but still bring it to his attention (How did you get this figure Mr. X?  Using www.oanda.com , I came up with this figure.  Where did I go wrong?).  Then ask where he got his currency conversion rates from.  Say that you just want to double-check his math so that he doesn't short-change himself.  In my old company, if it was paid for via AmEx, they used those exchange rates for the entire trip.  Here, we use oanda.com for the OOP expenses.
