I know how easily a day can drag when you have nothing to do. If your manager can't find work for you and I've you checked other avenues, I encourage you to consider returning to school or pursuing certifications and using your downtime to study (with permission of course).

You could also look to see if there might be brand new responsibilities you could take over at work. Naturally this would depend on your company, but areas to look at would include web site maintenance, social media updates, blog posts, writing an employee newsletter, etc. This can lead to new areas of responsibilities, future promotions and expanded skillsets that will serve you well in the future.
