I don't know if we have any DDers based in, or from, Peru. If so, I hope everyone is safe and well.
The brother and family of a close friend of mine are out there, very near to where the earthquake occurred, and we're hoping they are safe - no news as yet, but fingers and toes crossed.

raindance - Thoughts and prayers to your brother and the friend's family, I hope they are all okay.
We had a little quake (4.6) in California a couple weeks ago, the epicenter was just a few miles away from me. I hate earthquakes and was not happy about this, but the one in Peru reminds me of the Northridge quake. That's the closest I've ever been to something that big.

We eventually made contact late yesterday. They're all safe, but about as shaken as the ground beneath them!
SIL works for an agency who work in developing countries and is always out and about. She was driving home when the earthquake struck and didn't feel anything. Brother grabbed the two children (2 and 4 yrs old and both, understandably, very upset) and took them outside along with their nanny and the lady who housecleans. He said that standing on their lawn was rather like surfing on jelly.
