jade - I think you need to call these people and read them the riot act, mention the AMA, the Better Business Bureau, and the local news!!  You are not asking for much, just to be able to go back to work and make ends meet for your family.  I don't see why your current doctor can't squeeze in a visit - - certainly there's got to be a cancellation and we all know that they overbook.  I'd just walk in there and demand to be seen if it gets to a certain point.  How absolutely frustrating.
