Over the weekend I gave my dog a few macademia nuts not knowing they were poisonous to him. We called teh Vet and told him what we fed him and he said Macademias were posionus. All night he had the shakes and vomiting we were worried it would go to his internal organs (kidneys). I try not to give my dog people food but though, oh well this one time should be ok. I should have stuck to my beliefs of not giving him food (this reinforces no people food) Thankfully he is just fine, running around and playful like ever. I thought I would share a list of bad foods to give to your dog:

Foods to Avoid Feeding Your Pet
- Alcoholic beverages
- Avocado
- Chocolate (all forms)
- Coffee (all forms)
- Fatty foods
- Macadamia nuts
- Moldy or spoiled foods
- Onions, onion powder
- Raisins and grapes
- Salt
- Yeast dough
- Garlic
- Products sweetened with xylitol

This list is based on the Animal Poison Controls list of death and illness in pets

Glad to hear you pup is doing well. Thanks for the list, I knew most but not all of these. I had no idea avocado was bad for dogs.

Turkey skin is hard to digest. Nuts of all kinds. Just a few more to add to the list. Also, keep them away from poinsettas this holiday season!

I got into nuts once. It was a very unpleasant experience. As much as I beg for it, I am glad my buddy is firm on not giving any of the above. It is easy to forget some of the poisonous foods so, though I hate to say this and will always beg for them, not to give any human food. In the end it is safer. My buddy didn't realize avacados were bad.
