DYMO Office LabelScrabble
DYMO is introducing office label scrabble. The only thing you need to get started is a LabelManager or LabelPoint, a set of D1 tapes and some white space.

We invite YOU to be one of the first to try it out. Get your buddies in on it too and let us know your high score. Unlike the official Scrabble game, there is no predefined board or bag of letters with different point values. Players simply choose any surface they want, desk, wall, whiteboard or flip over, and start to put down their first word. (Practical tip: put 2 spaces between each letter when printing the words to allow for better vertical and horizontal overlap of words)

How does it work?
The game is meant to be played by 2-4 people, but more can join. We suggest each player uses a different color. DYMO offers a variety of colors in its Standard D1 tape range.

The idea is to create words that are as long as possible. Each letter is worth one (1) point. The player that at the end of the game has the most points wins.

In absence of a predetermined set of alphabet keys, the game duration is limited by the number of words that the players can make. The basic DYMO Office Label Scrabble game is based on the 26 letters of the alphabet, and players have to use each subsequent letter in the alphabet when creating words. Of course you can opt to choose your own starting letters, but we do suggest setting a limit to the number of words at the beginning of the game.

Like the official scrabble game, each subsequent player must at least use one letter from an existing word when creating his or her word. Instead of double and triple letter and word value fields, players can double their score by creating a word that crosses more than one existing word. In the example below, player 4 doubles his score by creating the word homes and overlapping the existing words alphabet and scout. Players triple their score if their new word crosses three existing words.

Illustrated example

  • Player 1 starts and creates a word that starts with the letter A, the first letter in the alphabet. He scores 8 points.
  • Player 2 creates the word bedroom and scores 7 points.
  • Player 3 creates the word scout and scores 5 points
  • Player 4 creates the word homes and scores 10 points (5 points x 2 for crossing two words)

For the sake of illustration we have deviated from the alphabet order of letters in the example for player 3 and 4.
