In August 2007, DeskDemon launched a year long award program that acknowledges and rewards the accomplishments of those who support and keep companies running smooth. The viewer's voted Rhonda Bush of Diocese of Colorado Springs, February's winner.
Rhonda Bush
Rhonda produced, directed, filmed, and edited our foundational Safe Environment training and distributed it to all of the parishes in the diocese. In order to do this, she had to learn how to use all of the software, research and authorize the purchase of the filming, editing, and copying equipment, and integrate PowerPoint slides as well as music as she created the training DVD. It is critically important that all volunteers who work with our children and youth receive this training and it is impossible for my office staff to conduct all live trainings; therefore, this training DVD, which looks as if it were produced in a professional studio, will help our volunteers fulfill this training requirement.
Rhonda deserves this award because she was determined to master the skills and knowledge necessary to produce the training that will help to keep our kids safe. At times, because of the complexity of the project, she needed to work long hours, even at home, to hit the deadlines necessary. Moreover, her usual tasks and challenges did not suffer and she maintained her professional demeanor and approach in the face of enormous (electronic) setbacks! I believe that she is most deserving of the recognition which this award would bring because of her resourcefulness, conscientiousness, creativity, and determination to succeed. The goal of the Management Fellowship Support Award program is to acknowledge, recognize, reward and promote knowledge and good practice through each individual story.
Anyone can nominate an assistant who has made a difference to his or her day. The criteria for the nomination includes outstanding achievements in at least one of the following areas: Organizational and project management; training and mentoring; office management; communication; technology; problem solving. Winners are chosen by those who know the job the best – their peers. Each DeskDemon member is given ten votes to distribute to the entries they feel are the best. They may change the distribution of these votes at any point within any giving month. Each month the entry with the most votes receives $500 and their nominator $100. At the end of the competition, a group of industry experts will choose the most extraordinary entry for the grand prize of $15,000.
