Fujitsu Europe Ltd, a market leader in document imaging scanners, today announces the launch of ScanSnap (fi-5110EOX2), the latest addition to its revolutionary 'one-button' scanner range. This new PDF ADF desktop scanner is tailor made for fast and easy scanning of paper documents - for rapid digital distribution throughout any organisation. Whether day-to-day business correspondence, business cards or multi-page colour A4 or folded A3 brochures, in just a few seconds and at the touch of a button the fi-5110EOX2 copies each document and saves it automatically as a PDF file.

Quick, Easy and Cost Effective
Thanks to its small footprint, which is about the size of a DIN A4 sheet of paper, the fi-5110EOX2 fits comfortably on any desktop, making it the optimum solution for day-to-day scanning at the personal workstation. As an extension of the automatic PDF file creation, users can now generate searchable PDF files. Through the seamless integration of the "ABBYY FineReader for Fujitsu ScanSnap" OCR application, the user can create searchable PDFs without any extra effort. The OCR functions of Scan-to-Word, Scan-to-Excel and, likewise the entirely new Scan-to-PowerPoint2003, are also available to the user. By simply using the Explorer miniature preview or via the search function of the free copy of Adobe Acrobat 7.0 standard, any file created and saved can be quickly retrieved.

Scanning at 150 to 600 dpi, it can complete an impressive 15 pages per minute (Duplex 30 pages), fast enough for the majority of users. In addition to standard formats from A6 to A4, the new model enables users to scan A3 size by inserting the page into the all new folding document carrier. Even sensitive photographic papers can be processed by simply using the ScanSnap document carrier.

The fi-5110EOX2 also comes supplied with a full version of the business card program CardMinder V 2.0. With it, both sides of business cards can be scanned and viewed, and contact data transferred to contact managers such as Outlook, Act! and Goldmine. Additional functionality includes automatic paper management, where blank pages are automatically deleted and in the event of any sheets being misaligned, it automatically makes an up to five-degree adjustment. Its automatic document feeder can take up to 50 sheets in one scanning job and the unit recognises whether a document is in colour or b/w and saves the PDF file accordingly - cutting down on storage space, which can be reduced further if required by automatic compression.
