The winter season is now with us. It’s a busy time but, most importantly, come the holiday, most of us get a chance to rest, recharge our batteries and reflect on the year. This year, pre-Christmas online sales are set to top high street sales for the first time. It may just be because of its convenience, though perhaps the Christmas carols and Christmas Day number ones that shops barrage us with have something to do with it. Sorry – enough of being a humbug! This is a fantastic time of year and something to embrace fully – and of course we at DeskDemon are. The tinsel is out in force in the office! We have a number of festive articles – not least a fabulous Christmas Day menu with a recipe for the perfect roast turkey. We’d like to wish all of our users the very best for the new year. Have an amazing break over Christmas and the New Year – you deserve it!

The Origins of Kissing Under the Mistletoe | |
---|---|
It's a custom that's been with us for a long time but where did this ritual come from? In fact, Mistletoe has been seen as a magical plant with miraculous properties for thousands of years. The Vikings even believed it had the power to raise the dead. What a plant! Just remember the berries are poisonous. Find out more about the history of the kissing beneath the mistletoe. |

Christmas Day Menu | |
---|---|
We all know what a Christmas Day feast normally consists of, but this method of cooking the Christmas turkey is second to none. We've also got a great suggestion for a lentil soup starter. Plus, our scrumptious gingerbread boys and girls are a great way of finishing off the perfect meal (it's about time we took action to reduce gingerbread men's grip on the market). You won't be able to wait for Christmas Day after reading this menu - you may even have to bring the day forward! | |

Make a Difference This Holiday Season | |
---|---|
Christmas can be a wonderful time to spend with friends and family and celebrate being together. But it's not always like that; some people are going through a difficult time. Adopt-a-Family is a blueprint for companies and individuals to support disadvantaged families. It can make a difference to people who feel alone or without help. So please, urge your organisations to get involved. And afterwards we'd love to hear your stories and publish them. | |
In PAs We Trust | |
---|---|
The modern PA occupies a unique place in an organisation by liaising with all levels of the company, as well as with individuals and businesses outside of it. More than virtually anyone else, PAs hold the company together in their role as a communication hub and coordinators. This puts PAs in a position in which trustfulness and integrity is essential. Read about how to walk this fine line, and remain steadfast and responsible to all concerned. | |
Not Another Ice Breaker! Team Building With a Purpose | |
---|---|
Good team morale is central to the success of a company. Offsite team building events often seem like the answer to problems of low morale, alas they can go horribly wrong if not planned and executed in the correct way. But, through paying attention to simple and effective rules, you can put together something that everyone remembers for the right reasons. And, you never know, it could prove to be the turning point for your company! | |
Use Those Longer Evenings | |
---|---|
The evenings are indeed drawing in. In fact, the only hours of daylight are generally when we're in the office. But it is specifically at this time that the powers of positive thinking can come in incredibly useful. And as we come near the beginning of a new year, why not use this opportunity to work on new skills and rethink or hone priorities? | |

Sagittarius Time: 22nd November - 22nd December | |
---|---|
Sagittarius is the last sign of Autumn, and takes us up to the winter solstice - the shortest day of the year - on the 21st December. Though less changeable then Scorpio time just past, there may well be a few surprises in store. Sagittarius is a good time for transformations and changes, but read your stars to see out the best way you should go about it. | |
