Appointed the 2008 European City of Culture, inscribed into UNESCO's World Heritage List, and of course home of a football team that are glorious European champions - Liverpool has experienced a true renaissance in the last decade. Even the most recent edition of travellers' bible the Lonely Planet has raved about the city, extolling the virtues of the many restaurants, bars and clubs.

The UNESCO site - the Albert Dock - contains the largest collection of Grade One Listed Buildings in the country and is the most popular attraction in Liverpool. It's also the home of Tate Liverpool, the Maritime Museum and the Beatles Story. For the business traveller, the city of Liverpool has the most frequent commuter service outside London and is served by Liverpool John Lennon Airport, several motorways, and intercity train stations including the famous Liverpool Lime Street.

The event booker is also spoilt for choice with many excellent venues within the city. Whatever the event, there is a plethora of suitable venues to choose from.

Aintree Racecourse
Perhaps one of the most famous racecourses in the country; this is a unique venue and one that will definitely impress your delegates and guests. With the motto "we overlook nothing except the racecourse" you know that you will receive faultless treatment.

The racecourse has eight rooms for hire in the Princess Royal Stand, which can cater for up to 500 theatre style (in the Exhibition suite) through to 15 in the Merryman syndicate suites. There are four suites available in the Queen Mother Stand, with capacity up of to 180 in the Valentines Suite, through to 15 in the Queen Mother syndicates.

Aintree can even arrange a marquee on the lawns of the Queen Mother stand for corporate hospitality or an incentive events, or if you have team building in mind, go-karting, archery, quadbiking and other outdoor pursuits can be arranged.

Glaxo Neurological Centre
Opened in 1993, the Centre is a unique, purpose-built facility offering non-medical information and advice on all aspects of neurological conditions. Much of the Centre's work is funded by donations and by revenue from hiring rooms.

A two minute walk from Lime Street station, the Centre has four rooms available for hire. The Seminar/Lounge can hold 80 people theatre style and 35 board room style. The Seminar Room holds 60 people theatre style and 30 boardroom style. The Meeting Room holds 45 people theatre style and 30 boardroom and the Lounge holds 20 people theatre style; it's perfect if you are arranging an informal gathering or brain-storming session.

Tea, coffee and refreshments are served from the Centre's kitchen, but a contracted caterer is available for other catering requirements.

Northern Conference Centre
This venue is located one mile from the centre of Liverpool and its facilities are utilised by over 10,000 people annually. It provides full accessibility for disabled people and has an induction loop system installed in the conference rooms. It even offers full créche facilities with fully qualified staff.

The conference centre offers seven meeting rooms to suit varying requirements and budgets. It's perfect for meetings, brainstorming sessions or presentations. The centre can accommodate from 12 people theatre style in the Calder room to 60 people in the Mersey room. The square footage of the rooms vary from 174 to 693. The Centre can also provide hot and cold buffets for your delegate and guests.

Merseyside Maritime Museum

Based at the Albert Dock, the Merseyside Maritime Museum tells the story of one of the world's greatest ports and the people who used it, as well as conveying the story of Liverpool's seafaring heritage.

An excellent location in a heritage area, the museum offers an unusual venue for corporate events. There are three main rooms for hire: the boardroom, the lecture theatre and the fourth floor restaurant. The boardroom holds 24 people boardroom style and 40 people theatre style - excellent for small to medium sized meetings. The lecture theatre can hold up to 200 people - ideal for formal presentations, lectures and seminars. There's also a dockside gallery, which acts as a refreshment or exhibition area - perfect for break out times at the lecture theatre or as somewhere unusual to entertain your delegates.

The Gateway Conference Centre
The Gateway Centre occupies a central position in Liverpool's City Centre. It has easy access to all transport routes making it a very convenient event venue. The Gateway also has cutting edge, accessible facilities and services to ensure that all your event objectives are met.

The premise of the Gateway Centre is to provide the community with ICT training, advice and assessments, and balance those activities with income from commercial activity.

The purpose-built Conference Centre has conference and meeting suites, which together with a spacious mezzanine area, are perfect for any type of conference, meeting or reception for up to 100 delegates. The Conference room can hold 30 people boardroom style and 65 theatre style. The Meeting Suite can hold 16 people boardroom style and 32 theatre style; Meeting Room No. 1 holds 12 and Meeting Room 2 holds 10.
