We all know that feeling. You've just spent hours inputting data manually when a helpful colleague breezily informs you that there's an import short cut which would have entered all those names and addresses automatically.
Or you discover just after you've sent the boss to Paraguay, that he has never had a Yellow Fever jab, which means he'll more than likely be on the first flight straight back! It's that "I wish I'd known that!" feeling, and it comes to us all from time to time.
Over the next few issues of DeskDemon Express we'll be taking a look at some PAs' stories about the things they wish they'd known and how hindsight is a wonderful thing! It will be a bit of fun, a chance to sympathise with colleagues over their problems, and a way of reminding ourselves that we're not alone in experiencing such things! It may also be useful to some readers, to help prevent them from making the same mistakes!
So, we want to hear your stories. Simply email us in the first instance with your "Ouch!" stories and we'll come back to you for a quick chat. Together we can write them up for the "Ouch!" page, for other readers to enjoy.
This section will be running for six months or so, and we'll be featuring a PA each issue. So get thinking – when was the last time you groaned, "Oh, I wish I'd known that…!". Tell us about it!
Email me at express@deskdemon.com and give me the rough outline of your "horror and hindsight" scenario, and we'll choose the best ones to publish. If we have lots of excellent entries, we'll profile several each issue.
Look forward to hearing from you!
