Title: Mega-stress vent! Post by: JessW on January 08, 2004, 02:35:41 pm My blood pressure is rocketing and it is only the start of the year. I could really do with a bit of cold eality - someone saying I wil be ok and it will soon be over. This is why:-
1. At the end of today my department will be in temporary accommodation due to the powers that be thinking the office needs a rec room for the staff to not have coffee in (just in case they spill it on the floor) and watch company propaganda on a plasma screen. 2. Plasma screen probably bought by giving admin staff a 1.69% pay rise inclusive of pension contribution. This is also prior to our monthly bonus being totally withdrawn after March (this means I get a pay cut!) 3. Internal politics within group means that at least two of my bosses are being targetted fof extermination from at least three sides with me trying to hide behind the sofa (Dr Who style). 4. It is still unclear whether or not I have a job here or not - even with the (re)Introduction of charging my time out thus making me cost neutral. This all depends upon what happens with No. 3. 5. I am getting a lot of flack from co-workers because I have not been part of a 'group' for so long the factions do not kow what to make of me and whether I am on their side or not (for the record I am on my side because there is only me who won't stab me in the bakc as soon as look at me!) I have, however, created a 'thoughts' board for me to vent my spleen (post-its attached to the back of my front door at home with a though to cover most / any mood I happen to be in at the time eg "I will not be taken for granted", "I can do whatever I set my mind to", and my personal favourite being "Washing up can look decorative when left in the kitchen sink". Has anyone got any other good 'thoughts' I can add to my door! I have about 25 of them so far, some of which are deliberately aimed at DH. Anyway, thanks for letting me rant and rave. I feel a lot better for it. I just have to remember that other people have real problems and not let myself get depressed like last year (put on 2 stone in 4 month period). Die, die die, die, die, kill, kill, kill, kill, kill, die, die, die, die, die, etc. Not only do I get to vent, they completely understand, and it makes them laugh, which in turn, makes me feel a little bit better. "Never look forward unless you can dream ... never look back unless you can laugh" I heard this quote some time ago and have been trying to trace its origin but have been unsuccessful (Quoteland didn't help) My favourite trick is to project yourself forward 10 years and wonder if you'll even remember what it is that's bothering you today. |
