Title: Got a job at last!

Thought I'd let you all know that following weeks of jobhunting after being laid off at the beginning of the year, I start a new job on Monday.
The job is Office Manager and PA to the MD of a small pharmaceutical company. It looks like it will be hard work, but I wanted a challenge, and I think this job will provide it. I am also pleased that I was able to get a job at the salary level I was seeking. For a while, it seemed like nobody was prepared to pay what I was asking, and I thought I'd have to lower my sights. Just goes to show, if you believe in yourself, and you remain patient, what you seek will eventually come to you.
In the end not many of the recruitment agencies were a lot of help - some of them got me interviews, but this job I got from applying to an ad in the paper. However, I had sufficient temping assignments to keep me gainfully employed all the time I was out of a permanent job, and they were all from Brook Street, so this is the agency I would recommend to anyone in the UK looking for secretarial work!
I may be rather busy over the next few weeks as I settle into my new job, so I may not have time to visit these boards very often. But I will be back soon.

happy dance for Akara. Excellent news! I wish you every success in your new job. There's so much redundancy around these days. I interviewed Admin Assistants last week and out of five candidates, four had been made redundant recently - all lovely young people with excellent qualifications. So I am particularly delighted to read that you have secured a good job and at the salary level you were seeking.
