Title: 2013 Goals - Any Plans???
Post by: msmarieh on December 19, 2012, 04:36:59 pm
I have a mix of goals for next year.

Decide if I want to run for an Intl Board position
Sit for Registered Parliamentarian Exam
Complete Access 2010 certification exam
Complete High Performance Leadership project for Toastmasters (almost done - just one more speech to give)
Facilitate some type of speechcraft or other program
Achieve Advanced Communicator Gold designation
Submit an article to publish in OfficePro magazine
Lead a PowerPoint 2010 study group
Lead an Outlook 2010 study group
Lead an Access 2010 study group
Consider writing CAP exam study guide (cliff notes version)
Consider completing Sharepoint 2010 certification exam
Investigate Project 2010 certification exam
Complete Office 365 certification exams?
Do one crafting project a month
Do one canning session a month
Organize and finalize the garage

How about the rest of you? :) Got any plans to set any goals for yourself in 2013?

That's a wonderful list Marie. I'm glad to see there are a few fun things included. I have not made a list yet as I am still thinking about what I want to accomplish and if my goals are really attainable.

I'm also the type that has to list each step of the goal so I don't feel too overwhelmed. I have the next six days off, so I might take some time and work on my list.

Marie

As ever, your goals for each year put the rest of us to shame - I think I can safely say that!!!

I'm spurred on by your one craft project a month to say I would like to aim to do at least that this coming year too.  Didn't get nearly enough Christmas cards made as I would have liked, simply because I didn't start early enough.  I spent quite a bit on craft stuff this year and want to make it all work for me next year!

Work stuff, want to do an e-mnarketing course, just trying to sort out what to do

It's really amazing how time slips away if we don't consciously plan and work on our goals. Some things still happen of course, but so many more never do. It always makes me sad when I hear someone say four or five years in a row that maybe this will be the year they actually work on a particular goal, when I know that goal is actually very achieveable with a few weeks effort.

Hopefully everyone will put themselves first this year and get a few things checked off their list. :)

Mine are not quite so challenging as they might at first glance appear. I already have scheduled myself to teach the three office 2010 study groups, so that's already slotted in on my calendar. I'm already half way through my Advanced Communicator Gold designation. So some of these are already in progress. :)

I'm well on my way on my goals...  My goals are simple... continue to work on being the best parent I can be, by being more active with my boys.  And trying to be a better wife, but not a doormat, making sure I give my husband quality time.  However, willing to cut losses if need be there too, as that may be what is best for me and the boys.  Another goal.... do a family trip that is NOT related to visiting family in either direction, or that is planned as part of a scouting event.  To that end, I have planned a family visit to a local campground/scenic area for the first part of the kid's Spring break.  Additionally, hubby has planned a him and I trip.... our first cruise (ever) and for our 20th anniversary in November.  I have been more active with my boys, not so much as increasing the events we do, but trying to be more active on our outings.  So I now have a bike we can ride in the neighborhood and on our Scouting campouts.  Have taken to jumping on the trampoline with them (one of the reasons I bought one that goes up to 300lbs!) and basically just getting active.

btw.... I just bought new jeans and had to get a size SMALLER than I have been wearing!  Went from a US size 22 pants to a size 20!  :-)  I want to get down to 225lbs by November for our cruise, because one of the events I want to do at a port is horseback riding, which they have a 225 lb limit on (whimpy horses!)... but if I don't do it, then I have a plan B.  Last time I weighed in, I was at 255lbs, so it's doable safely without major dieting... but again, if it don't happen, no sweat.  We'll see where I am when November gets here...  :-)

Wow Marie that is some list.

During 2013 I will be:-

Putting all my effort into my new job and making the most of the opportunties that are there for me of which there are lots and lots (just over 6 weeks to go until I start it  :))

Spending great times with family , friends and my wonderful godchildren.

Have lots of quality time with my two dogs, get the puppy through his KCGC Bronze at the end of Feb and get some good first places in the show ring (I can dream lol, but he has had his first 1st already) and hopefully start field training with the puppy during the Summer (might be a bit too ambitious but will give it a go!).  Give my other dog loads of TLC and help him to gain more confidence in himself.

Loose the 14 lbs that has sneaked back on over the last couple of months!! Yikes!

But most of all I am going to be happy and enjoy my new life and new home down South :)

Woo hoo! Submitted my article to OfficePro this morning, a week early! Since it's an article on how to acheive the goals you set, I'd say that's very appropriate! ;)

Next up - Outlook study group, whicih starts next week. Need to put together my materials for it. I'm making some pretty nice progress on my goals so far.

I am moving up the timeframe for my Registered Parliamentarian exam. Want to sit for that in May, I believe, so it's done before I preside over the Division Annual Meeting in June.

How are the rest of you coming with setting and achieving your 2013 goals? :)

Woo hoo! Today I got four exam vouchers under IAAP's special deal with certiport ($189 for three vouchers which includes testing prep software plus $69 for a single voucher).  I have to use them up within 90 days, so that sets the deadline for me to take these tests.

I plan to take:

Access 2010
Sharepoint 2010
OneNote 2010
Project 2010 (except it's not showing on the list, so maybe Office 365 instead)

So that's the first step towards finishing these exams, some of which I will be taking for the first time (in any version) ever.

New stuff to learn! I love it!

A great list, Marie.

My big goal this year is to begin my course which will lead to Chartered Secretary qualification, so I can become a fully-fledged Company Secretary.  I also have two presentations to give at our Annual Conference on litigation in malpractice/negligence cases.  We have some "softer" training modules at work - health and well-being and time management.  My work is very much more pressured and has more fixed deadlines these days, with financial penalties attached, so I think the latter course will be very good indeed.

In my domestic life, my goal is to get fit after a long period of illness, and move house.  Get fit programme is already underway.

Hello, All...

My goals for this year include:

1.  Like the poster before, getting well again after illness.
2.  To make my new job as an Administrative Specialist a success.
3.  To get my MOS certification before the end of the year.
4.  Moving.
