1. Vouchers for local beauty salon 2. Vouchers for clothes outlets 3. Gift voucher for a dept store where I can purchase anything from cosmetics to clothing or jewelley 4. Music Voucher 5. Tickets for a show or concert Wouldn't thank you for flowers, wine is acceptable, chocs I would only be giving away to others, but I am quite easy to buy for....hint, hint! ![]() Title: Re: Xmas gifts for PA Post by: raindance on November 23, 2006, 10:49:49 am Any of the suggestions from Gee would be perfect, but give me a gift voucher for a luxury Jessica manicure and I would be your friend for life.
I would tend to give flowers for a birthday or as a thank-you for special work such as help with a special event. They are lovely, though, if they are absolutely first rate and the bunch, or arrangement, is a decent size. The same thing with wine (although check that the recipient does drink wine; lots of people don't touch alcohol for religious or other reasons). But a gift card from any local, popular store is usually appreciated. I wouldn't do the flowers - that's more of a birthday thing - at least in my opinion.

![]() If you do give a gift certificate, make sure that it is in an amount that is actually useful. I had a boss once that gave me a gift certificate to a fancy restaurant in an amount that wouldn't even cover an appetizer. ![]() Tif Title: Re: Xmas gifts for PA Post by: raindance on December 01, 2006, 02:26:09 pm That's not very nice - it's like giving a gift that isn't a gift. I tend to given modest gifts to colleagues, including Bossie, but Bossie had a "milestone birthday" last year so I gave her a certificate for a Jessica manicure. But only after I had had one myself

I've been away from here for quite some time - so I know I'm a bit behind on this conversation, but could someone tell me what a Jessica manicure is exactly? Anyone have a list that covers all the different types of manicures?
Title: Re: Xmas gifts for PA Post by: gee4 on December 15, 2006, 02:48:47 pm I think it's just the name/type of products they use for the manicure/pedicure.
Title: Re: Xmas gifts for PA Post by: raindance on December 18, 2006, 12:22:58 pm Exactly so, Gee. "Jessica" is a brand name for handcare products. The full-works manicure is really nice, as you not only have your nails filed, but also have hand massage and a hand pack applied. Afterwards, your hands look as though they have never washed up a dish or done any gardening. Perfect.
