Title: Cell phones on desks
Post by: susan silva on May 24, 2017, 08:26:07 pm
Is it more acceptable to have a phone on your desk and take a text message?  How has it changed (or maybe it hasn't for you) over the years.

I have my phone on my desk all day, my manager will text me.  I actually use it the most for work calls between 8-5.

Same here, I use my phone all day for work.  My company even offered to pay for my phone.  I didn't want to do that, I would feel they could watch my private life as well.

My bosses frequently text me while they are away from their desk or out of the office because it's easier than emailing or calling.  I keep my phone on my desk at all times.  AND my company provides employees a cell phone which can be used for personal calls/texts as well as business needs.

I am in a mid size company and my department has double standards!  My boss texts me and calls my cell phone all the time.  She is out of the office a lot, but... there is a policy no cell phones in the office.   This is an old policy and I think the times are changing.  Maybe.. .that is something I will think of a "how" to implement and offer and idea and a solution.. hmmm!  I like it!

The office IS evolving!
